It’s Murders in the Rue Morgue… But you better not kill the groove.

When Hammer Presents was unveiled back in December, the team promised an eclectic range that would excite and possibly surprise fans of horror. Sure enough, it’s already delivered gems like Cry of the Banshee (1970) and overlooked treasures including Doctor Blood’s Coffin (1961) and The Snake Woman (1961). But the next film in the range represents the most controversial, daring and downright horrific to date. It’s a movie that somehow contrives to be simultaneously baffling, bizarre and brilliant. It’s dreamlike. It’s nightmarish. It’s Murders in the Rue Morgue (1971).

Coming Soon: X the Unknown

We’re delighted to confirm that the next release in our Limited Collector's Edition range will be the science-horror, X the Unknown (1956). If you’re a fan of the Quatermass franchise, 50s thrillers with a fantastical twist, or Hammer horror in general, this one’s for you! Aside from being a rattling good movie loaded with action and suspense, it represents a hugely important step in Hammer’s evolution into a powerhouse of the horror genre.

A Beginner‘s Guide to Vincent Price

Vincent Price has been hailed as ‘the King of horror’ and remains one of the genre’s most celebrated stars. The fact he never appeared in a Hammer movie has always seemed like a strange and reluctant quirk of cinema. These two titans of terror feel like such a natural pairing that it’s entirely appropriate he’s finally entering the Hammer House of Horror courtesy of Cry of the Banshee (1970), the first movie released in the fledgling Hammer Presents range. To celebrate his long overdue arrival we’re taking a whistle-stop tour of his life and career. From saint to sinner, witchfinder to kitsch fraudster, his roles were wildly varied.
