Hammer’s Inside Scoop:

Whispering Smith Hits London marks Herbert Lom’s Hammer Films debut. The first of three appearances with the studio, it was followed by his roles in The Phantom of the Opera and The Lady Vanishes. The film also represents the first of four Hammer appearances made by Alan Wheatley.

Following Whispering Smith Hits London, Richard Carlson later became a well-known name due to his significant roles in 1950s sci-fi classics like Creature from the Black Lagoon. Notable actor Stanley Baker also appears very briefly in a scene at the start as a reporter. Within a few years, he was leading man material and headlined two hard-hitting films for Hammer by the end of the 1950s.

Outside of its cast, the film is also noteworthy for its location filming, scenes were shot on the bustling streets of London and Windsor.
