Teenage prodigy Victor Frankenstein tells his father of his ambition to attend university in Vienna. When the Baron objects, Victor coldly sabotages his father's rifle, causing it to explode and kill him. Using his inheritance, Victor moves to Vienna.
Six years later, Victor leaves Vienna after impregnating the Dean’s daughter. Returning home with fellow student Wilhelm, he rescues his friend Elizabeth and her father from highwaymen, killing one and secretly beheading him. Hidden from housekeeper and ‘bedwarmer’ Alys, Victor and Wilhelm begin experimenting with reviving dead tissue. Thus begins the grisly career of the notorious Victor Frankenstein.
Directed by Jimmy Sangster in 1970, this bold experiment in horror comedy stars Ralph Bates as the young Victor Frankenstein and Dave Prowse (later Darth Vader in Star Wars) as his monster. One of the most unusual of all Hammer horrors, now available on DVD.
