House Of Clemens - Words from Director Chris Chapman

This year, we unveiled The House of Clemens, an exclusive new documentary that dives deep into the life and legacy of Brian Clemens—the visionary behind Captain Kronos, The Avengers and The Professionals.

Directed with incredible skill and care by Chris Chapman, this 59-minute film is packed with rare insights, never-before-seen footage, and heartfelt stories from those who knew Clemens best. It’s an intimate celebration of a creative legend whose work defined the golden age of television.

Here are some words from Chris Chapman himself about bringing this fascinating documentary to life and what it means to honour the genius of Brian Clemens…

“I’m a lifelong Hammer fan, so it was thrilling to be invited in to put a documentary together - and even better that it was to celebrate a figure as huge as Brian Clemens. We knew that Brian’s widow, Janet, and their two sons, Sam and George were on board - so we wanted to build something around them. Even more tantalising was that Brian’s home has been left essentially untouched since his death nearly a decade ago - full of historic artefacts of his life and career - so we opted to film our presenter Toby Hadoke spending 48hrs as a guest of the family.
We all felt really immersed in Brian’s legacy as we explored that house - discovering treasures not just from Captain Kronos, but from his time on The AvengersThe New AvengersThe Professionals and The Golden Voyage of Sinbad! We were also very lucky in that so many of Brian’s old friends and colleagues were keen to pay tribute to him - so we were able to arrange interviews with the likes of Joanna Lumley, Sue Holderness and Caroline Munro - all full of stories about a man their greatly admired.
What a pleasure of a film to work on - and what an amazing family to put at the heart of it!”
