Veteran screenwriter Brian Clemens has been appointed OBE (Order of the British Empire) in the Queen's birthday honours list, for services to broadcasting and drama.

Clemens received his first screen credit in 1957 at the age of 26 and has gone on to become one of the foremost names in British film and television writing, and is perhaps best known for his work on tv series The Avengers and The Professionals  as well as long running mystery series Thriller.

For Hammer, Clemens wrote Dr Jekyll and Sister Hyde, conceiving the novel twist of Jekyll's alter ego being a female. In 1972 Clemens created Captain Kronos Vampire Hunter, with the film providing his only directing credit to date. In the 1980s Clemens wrote two episodes of Hammer House Of Mystery and Suspense - Mark of the Devil and The Sweet Scent of Death.

All of us at Hammer wish to extend our congratulations on the honour!
