Val Guest dies

Veteran Hammer writer, producer and director Val Guest has died at the age of 94 in his adopted home of Palm Springs.

Guest's work for Hammer Film Productions was of unparalleled importance to the company's commercial and critical credibility.  A director of some 17 features between 1954 and 1984 for Hammer, Guest handled the first foray's for the company into colour, a string of widescreen classics, brought the company a number of award nominations, and paved the way for Hammer Horror proper.
