They Shoot They Score
Following the success of GDI Records' recent compilation The Hammer Film Music Collection - Volume One producer Gary Wilson planned several further releases for 1999.
The first album is provisionally scheduled for release in April and will feature classic comedy themes from Hammer Film Productions and Roy Skeggs/Brian Lawrence's Cinema Arts International. The compilation will include original themes from On The Buses (1971), Mutiny On The Buses (1972) and Holiday On The Buses (1973) as well as Up The Creek (1958), I Only Arsked (1959), That's Your Funeral (1973), Nearest And Dearest (1973), Love Thy Neighbour (1973), Man About The House (1974), George & Mildred (1980) and Rising Damp (1980). A 16-page booklet written by Marcus Hearn and introduced by Roy Skeggs will accompany the picture disc CD.
This album will be followed by the first dedicated soundtrack release in the series. "At the moment we're considering releasing the surviving music from The Mummy, The Curse of the Mummy's Tomb and The Mummy's Shroud on one disc," Gary told us. "We've got so much superb material, however, that choosing what to issue first has proved difficult."
The second volume of collected horror themes is provisionally scheduled for release in the autumn.
Gary can be heard duetting with none other than Christopher Lee on the GDI Records' single release, a new version of the Lee Marvin classic I Was Born Under A Wandering Star. Lee and Wilson appeared on ITV's This Morning and Vanessa Feltz's new BBC series to promote the single.
