Just ordered this in Amazon marketplace USA, and put the film in my Netflix queue. I am so stoked that Hammer has a book imprint, as a writer it would be a supreme goal to have a paperback come out under the Hammer name!
The gold standard of vampire flicks and always will be. I would have taken 20 sequels of Peter Cushing as Van Helsing having his own thread. David Peel and the legendary stage actress Martita Hunt are suberb. Hammer's masterwork.
What can I say? The classic. Best confrontation scene of all time between not only Drac and Van Helsing but Chris and Peter as well! Always known as Horror of Dracula to us, of course, and beloved, now and forever.
Okay, here's where the shite really hits the fang! Luckily I only discovered this as an adult, because if I had seen it in the Hammer throes of my early teen years, my prepubescent brain would likely have imploded. Far and away the sexiest of the lesbian vampire flicks of that era and a damned good interpretation of "Carmilla" also. Ingrid Pitt is the stuff legends are made of. It's a shame "Lust for a Vampire" did not live up to the fun that was had with this one.
I love this type of Hammer film more than breathing. It's got Cushing, sex and nudity, and of course the great Hammer Horror atmosphere. What more can one want in this or any other lifetime?
